Fishing Tips for Alagnak River
2/8/2012 1:40 PM
If you like remote trout/salmon fishing destinations with world class fisheries than you should check out the Alagnak River. From the base of Kukaklek Lake the river surges though rapids, under towering cliffs, over gravel runs, into pools, over sandbars, and braids through meadows before dumping into Bristol Bay. Bristol Bay, those two words might have explained to some of you why the fishing in this river is so good. Every year the Alagnak River is host to l000s of thousands of salmon and sea run trout. Add that to the fish you find here year round and you will always have something biting. The only downside to fishing h ere is that you have to hire a floatplane to fly you in; that can be expensive. It’s not uncommon to spend over $4,000 for a week (if you come for less time than that you are wasting your time here). In the end it’s up to you which is more important; green paper or a huge salmon or trout on the end of your line. Good luck fishing!
