Most bass are moving shallow and stocking up for the pre-spawn right now and can be caught on squarebill crankbaits and jerkbaits near cover. Catfish can be caught on live and cut shad fished near shallow and deep cover. Crappie can be caught on minnows near brush piles and fallen trees in the shallows and trolling jigs on the main lake.

Catfish are caught year-round, but the summer months are best. Crappie fishing is best in Spring and Fall, but they can be caught in deeper water during the summer.

Fishing Chambers County Lake

  6/6/2012 7:00 AM

Early morning, late afternoon, and night are the prime times for this lake. I've fished tournaments here and we couldn't catch anything after 8am. Between the sun rising and 8 the fish are very active on topwater lures. Look for flats around the lake for schooling fish. The catfish fishing is really good here also. Look for the sunken cedar trees marked by floats. Livers under floats fished near these cedar trees are deadly for eating size catfish. Fly fishing with small poppers for bluegill work great also.
