Fishing

Best luck for crappie lately has been trolling crankbaits 12 – 15 ft deep over deeper water in the main lake with Carver Point and the area where the 2 rivers join the best spots. For largemouth bass, fish main lake points with crankbaits or Carolina rigged soft plastics. For catfish, rod-and-reel, trotlines, or jugs (noodles) have all been producing using various natural baits.

Bass

Fisherman have been following the rise up the creeks and ditches and are finding fish still biting shallow in flooded grass 1 to 3 ft deep in water that’s clearer than in the main lake. Fish black or chartreuse and orange jigs and/or minnows.

Crappie

A few crappie catches have been coming from the Young’s Landing area. Some crappie have also been taken trolling 6 – 10 ft deep for crappie with jigs and/or minnows.

Spillway

Best luck in the spillway is when some water is being released. For crappie, fish quieter water out of the current either right on the rocks or in the old river run with jigs and/or minnows. Catfishing is best in eddies on cut bait. White bass will be in the current where you can drift a 2 jig rig just off bottom or fish small crankbaits or tailspinner lures. For largemouths, fish crankbaits right on the rocks.

Crappie

Crappie tournament are here nearly every weekend. There are some monster crappie in Grenada! 2+lbs are not rare here. The lake limit is 12 inches which is a big crappie. Crankbaits 10-15 feet are catching good crappie right now on the main lake. Also slow trolling a jig and a big minnow is working good.
