Lake Lurleen Fishing Report near Northport, Alabama
5/12/2013 9:30 PM
Lake Lurleen is not a lake to visit if you are looking for serious fishing for big fish. Instead, this little lake is best for families who are looking for tons of action for decent size fish. Catfish are excellent but there are also good panfish and bass here. Catfish can be caught by fishing near the bottom early or late in the day with shrimp, prepared bait, worms, minnows, and catalpa worms. Try fishing for bass from a small boat with dark topwater lures, spinnerbaits, soft plastics, and small crankbaits. The bass can be found all over the lake, but they prefer to hang out in the shallows during the spring spawn and around weedlines and drop offs the rest of the year. The panfish can be caught in the same spots the bass are and they will bite anything live bait.
