The best depth to catch striped bass is in the 40-foot range. The water depth the fish are holding can vary from 40 to 144 feet and many fish are being caught along the channel in water deeper than 90 feet. Live bait (shad) and spoons are working the best.

Midges, scuds, sow bugs, blue wing olives, egg and worm patterns are all good options. Small streamers (2-3 inches) in low water are working in areas with active fish and larger streamers (4-6 inches) during periods of generation can produce a trophy.

Most fish are at 20-30 feet near brush. Walleye, bass, stripers, catfish and crappie are all there. Bluegill and some bass are under docks shallower in shade. Bass are feeding on the banks in the evening on crawfish and can be caught on salty craws with a black light and florescent line at night.
