Really REALLY Nice Hunt!

  1/29/2015 7:00 AM

k so I hunted with IMB twice this year...I had some success last year in Iowa in taking a 150Class 10pt with my bow and I think it's only fair that I detail my experiences... I hunted in Illinois during the first week of November and I hunted in Mizzou for the first gun season.. Illinois Lodge: Best lodge I've ever been to. 4-5 Star all the way. Lived up to it's billing on the website. Andy does a great job keeping you comfortable and keeping you fed. My Illinois Hunt: I had a really good hunt but I did not kill. I passed a shooter buck on the first day (130+" 8pt)...really the first hour of the first day. The winds blew 20mph + EVERYDAY I was there. It rained and sleeted during my hunts. I saw Three shooters in Five days, one of which was at 15yds...see above ^^^. The biggest shooter was 145 class 8/9pt (Which is a big buck!). The hunting was tough with the wind. I saw bucks everyday but one and on the day I didn't see a buck the wind was howling over 30mph so I wasn't surprised. There were 12 hunters in camp by my count. Two Killed, Two Wounded, Two Missed and Two like myself did not shoot at shooter bucks that passed within range. So eight opportunities to kill 130 class bucks out of 12 hunters those five days in very tough weather conditions. Guides were great and the properties were awesome. I didn't feel like they were over hunted at all. During the week I was in Illinois the Mizzou lodge killed TWO 190+" bucks! Maybe should have picked Mizzou for bow season. WOW! Mizzou Lodge: Awesome people, Great place, great food. Very happy with the Mizzou Lodge. I stayed at the Bush Lodge. Mizzou Hunting: Some of the best I've seen. 26 hunters in Camp...11 Killed on the first day. Including myself...I shot a 168 7/8" 300lb buck. I passed a shooter 8pt before killing the big boy. The woods and properties were awesome...30,000 acres to hunt with IMB in Mizzou...nothing was over hunted from what I could see. At the end of the week 20 bucks out of 26 hunters and EVERYONE had shot opportunities. Some were shot and lost, some missed and some didn't take the shot. My buck was the second largest of the week...a 174" buck was killed on the last day. Bottom Line: Three hunts in with IMB and I'm batting .666 with over 300"s of bone on my wall... A quality hunting experience for me. I will be back. Weather is a HUGE factor in hunting success...your attitude is a HUGE Factor in your success. Go with an open mind and don't think it's a lock...you have to hunt...the deer have to cooperate. It's not a given that you will kill something. Happy Hunting!

IMB is all about the $$$, not the hunt...

  1/23/2015 7:00 AM

A buddy and I booked a hunt this past season (Nov 2014) with IMB outfitters. The operation is poorly managed, with heavy hunting pressure due the the large volume of hunters ran throught the camp in Missouri. Also, the stand sites are less than desirable, providing poor shooting lanes and do not accomodate gun hunting. All of the stands we hunted out of on our four day hunt were "lock on limb" type stands which were positioned for bow hunters. I feel that for the type of $$$ we paid for our hunts, the level of service and commitment by IMB outfitters was unacceptable. I blame nobody for my bad experience except for myself. I should have done some homework (read reviews and talked to past clients) before booking this trip. This would have definitely saved me time and money. This outfitter is a prime example of an organization that has lost touch with what they initially set out to do, which is provide a quality hunting experience, and has focused more on trying to figure out how to increase their bottom line.

Awesome Outfitter Choice

  11/14/2014 7:00 AM

I did my first ever outfitter hunt with IMB and wow what an experience! The accommodations are top notch and ALL the staff work very hard to get you on the deer. I don't understand the bad reviews! I saw three shooter bucks in 2 1/2 days of hunting before I was blessed to harvest a buck of a lifetime. The awesome buck was named "white trash" and green scored 193. There was other nice bucks seen and harvested while I was in camp. I would highly recommend IMB Outfitters in Missouri as a five star bow hutting destination!! I will definitely be going back!!

Don't waste your time and money!

My whole experience was nothing but bad! I will never do business with them again!

IMB Outfitter review

  2/7/2013 7:00 AM

Food was good, and lodging was good but that was about it. Stands are hung wrong, they do not have any food plots, they don't have great land to hunt on far as seeing alot of deer. I hunted in 2012 in Illinois first gun and very few deer were taken. Just 5 were above 120 and nobody was seeing alot bucks. I hunted 1 day and didn't see a deer and next day just 4. Does and spike on small pieces of land lease - nothing big and they hang stands where the sun comes up in your eyes. Better try someone else, and dont let them lie to you like they did me.

save your money

  1/1/2013 7:00 AM

i also was disappointed at the missouri location, i was there for the full rut archery season, did not see many deer, no shooter bucks, also one day my guide had me hunting over a gut pile from a kill 2 days previous....real professional....my advice, save your money and go elsewhere....no complaints about the food or lodging, that was top-notch

Be Aware!

  8/16/2012 7:00 AM

Be careful in what you say about IMB Outfitters! The owner will threaten to sue you for slander in a heart beat. That's how he keeps negative reviews on boards a minimum. I hunted there before and had cigarettes under my treestand and didnt see a racked buck all week. I got threatened for making a negative review and when they told me what they thought the "facts" were of my hunt, they were 2 months off from the week I actually hunted. First class jack@$$

High Fences?

  8/16/2012 7:00 AM

I killed a 143" deer with IMB and still wont ever go back! They threatened to sue me for lying about how I felt my hunt went the following year!!! I stated facts!!! Even called me and acted like a hunter wanting referral info to see what I would say! I now hunt Illinois with an outfitter that has good land, good food, good ethics, and wont sue me if I say this year sucked...It's not the land, the food, the deer, its the people.....You want facts? Get the outfitter to show you (on paper) how many people are run through the camp per season, how many acres they lease, and how many bucks they harvest....ON PAPER...Go to IL DNR and check how many tags they call in per year

Poor hunting results in 2011

  7/13/2012 7:00 AM

IMB is discounting hunts left and right because the word has gotten out that there are real problems there when it comes to bowhunters! Outfitters never discount hunts unless hunters aren't booking and they are desperate. At first they raised their prices for 2012 and when that didn't work here came the discounts! Blood brothers, I'm not a hater but I do hate when outfitters take advantage of us and our hard earned money. I'm hunting Ohio this year and I will be as critical of them if they are awful as well.

Choose Wisely!

  3/31/2012 7:00 AM

To all my fellow bow hunters this is probably not the place for you. All outfitters that offer hunts for both archery and gun are going to cater to the gun hunters 100% of the time. That's why the archery rut hunts are cheaper than the gun hunts. Bow hunters are merely scouts for these outfitters. Do not get caught up in the numbers that these outfitters advertise(everything looks good on paper),rather than that ask them how many tags were filled. Also, by all means visit your outfitter before committing your hard earned money!

Try Golden Triangle Outfitters in Illinois!

  3/15/2012 7:00 AM

What a dissappointment this place was! Glad to see my other blood brothers out there chiming in. In response to Oliver's recent post I'm a bit confused. If you have hunted there the last 2 years and didn't harvest a buck in 2010 how did you manage to shoot "several" great bucks there? Darrin owe you money?? I was there for the rut and only saw 1 "Booner". If the stand had been set for a bow hunter I would have been in business. Unfortunately most of my stands were hung with gun hunters in mind. If these guys are so good why was I encouraged to hunt in a stand during 40 to 50 mph winds and driving rain? Any first year hunter knows that these conditions shut down the rut. At the same time I was encouraged to sit in a stand all day with 70 degree plus temps! Also a rut killer!! If that isn't bad enough I was discouraged from hunting with a weather system moving in! I would suggest the the good people at IMB in Missouri get subscription to Deer and Deer hunting. I even heard that the guides were getting lost! Oh yes, that's really professional. 2 good things about IMB, Becky and her staff (great job!) and leaving!

All you guys need to start hunting high fences!!

I hunted with IMB in fall of 2010,2011, and have rebooked for 2012. I have hunted all over the US and have found my personal outfitter. When my son and I started looking for an outfitter in the midwest to make our annual trip together we were skeptical because of some bad reviews and forums just like this one!! People like these guy couldn't be more inaccurate. From the time we walked into the door to the time we booked our hunt for the following year we were treated with respect and professionalism. This is a top notch outfit and I would recommend them to anyone who asks. We did not harvest a buck in our first outing with them but saw alot of decent deer. The stand setups were spot on and set up on some of the most amazing ground I have ever had the privilege of stepping foot on. These guys have really got there stuff together and my son and I have made friends there that will last a lifetime. I guess you can't make everyone happy but some of the things this guy says I find very hard to believe after hunting two seasons with IMB Outfitters. Since 2010 my son and I have harvested several great bucks and God willing we will hunt with them there from now on!!!

Stay home if you shoot stick and string

I also hunted an archery, rut week. I agree whole heartedly with what everyone has written about this outfitter. Only saw two bucks brought in on my week and they were well under the 125 minimum. Wondered why anyone would pay money and shoot something that small. By the end of the week I knew, as it would be the biggest deer that they saw. Cost them an additional $500 for their efforts. He states that this fee goes to the local church, but I have my doubts. Hunters were spending their hard earned money and shooting doe's. He rings you in with sponsorships. Should have called a few, doubt that they have a clue. Number of stands, frequency of use,and type. Did not see any Gorrilla products, but did set in a number of old ladder stands that looked like they had been there for years. Sat a couple of same stands twice, and not by request, nor did they have a positive outcome. His stand book is trash and fabricated. He claims a totally outrageous harvest/sighting percentage. I think he quoted me 121% up to my archery hunt for this year. I questioned the more than 100%, he stated that hunters were having multiple opportunities, but not being able to harvest the animals. Bold face lie on this one. You do not dump from 100+% to 0 in one week if you are reputable and know your business. Make this individual justify everything in writting and from an independent source. Saw the new ad campaign. They spend their money there, but it made me sick to think that good honest people would be taken advantage of. Don't know if hunting with a firearm would be better, but at least it would increase your effective range. Don't fall for his, this is just disgruntled hunters who stayed at camp and did not put in the time on stand garbage, or they want something. Put your money into a lease, this guy should be working in a dealership, or running for office.

IMB Outfitters moving many hunters through

  12/28/2011 7:00 AM

Late Muzzle hunt 28 hunters 0 kills. Heard of one hunter taking a shot and then were told that there were 11 misses for the week. This is a real production house just pushing hunters through, overhunting stands etc. The food accomadations and our guide were great. The outfitter should consider reducing the number of hunters they are hunting with to produce better results.

Promise City Iowa MO hunt

  11/24/2011 7:00 AM

This was the worst hunt I ever had. Travel time to stands each day was close to 4 hours. Deer were very scarce. Stands were not located properly. I hunted each day left the lodge at 4am returning at 7pm. I can't speack of the food because you can not enjoy eating at 7:30 and in bed by 8pm to be ready for 3:30 am wake up. One meal each day. sandwich for lunch and danish and coffee for breakfast. Stands were all narrow and designed more for angile small people not older larger people. Do not believe anything on the web site. We had close to thirty hunters and I never heard one say any thing positive about the hunt. No one talked of returning

IMBAD Outfitters of Missouri

  11/22/2011 1:40 PM

I'm was wondering if I was the only one that thought IMB was a joke! Thanks for your review, it confirms my suspicions about the place. Bow hunters beware!!! This is not the place for you. You gun hunters on the other hand should have a great season, but don't thank your guides. You should thank this years bow hunters that came before you, we did all your scouting. The week I was there the rut was supposed to be on, I was told "Booners" are eveywhere and they are on the move. Not so much! I saw 11 deer that week, 1 of which was a doe. Of the bucks I saw 3 were decent, the others were scrub bucks. I encourage the other bow hunters to get involved and take a couple of minutes to write a review of this place. Save some other bow hunters time and money!!

Not the best Experience

  11/20/2011 12:30 PM

Food, lodging and my guide was the only positive aspects of my hunt. Deer were few, with puny deformed racks, and not indicative of a quality deer mamagement program. Nutrition is there, but would have to question the genetics. The stand book is a farce, prepared by their staff. Would question the intergrity of the sightings, 100% plus or 120 class or greater deer, and how often stands are being set in. He sold me on the number of stands, over 400, and that stands were not hunted more than 3 times a year. My experience for the 5 days with 4 hunters, was that at least 3 stands were hunted twice during this period, and it was not because "Booners" were being seen. Stand placement in my opinion were tailored for the gun hunter and not bowhunters, as stands were 50+ yards away from obvious deer travel routes. Too many ladder stands without flip up seats, makes it difficult for bowhunters to stand, turn and shoot accuratly. Of the 20 some odd hunters that were there, few if any had positive things to say about their hunt. Of the rut week that I hunted there was not a P/Y deer harvested. Rumor had it that only 2 had been harvested since the start of the hunting season in September. A few left early. I hunted from sunrise to sunset and want nothing but to inform others about IMB. I would not consider coming here on a bowhunt. I spent a great deal of hard earned money and traveled a great distance to get there. I want anyone who is considering hunting with them to heed these warnings and to ask better questions than I did before booking their hunt.

Big Liar

  2/6/2011 9:32:19 AM

I know they've spent a bunch of money advertising but we felt that what they told us and how they handled their hunts were dishonest and they lied to us about several things which made the hunt tragic. We will never return.
