Located along the shoreline of the nearly 22,500 acre Old Hickory Lake just outside of metropolitan Nashville, TN, and near The Hermitage, which is the historical home of President Andrew Jackson. Laguardo Recreation Area offers visitors a variety facilities and outdoor recreation opportunities, including: exceptional bank and boat fishing, recreational boating, reservable group picnic shelter, swimming beach, playground and boat launch. With numerous species of wildlife residing in and around Old Hickory Lake, visitors can view abundant populations of migratory songbirds, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrels, rabbits, snakes, waterfowl and wading birds, making nature study and photography additional exciting pastimes.

Alerts and Important Information ** The pool "lake" level at Old Hickory is extremely high due to large amounts of precipitation/rain received on 1-2 May, 2010! We expect the lake levels to remain above normal for several days. Due to these high lake levels, no shelter reservation will be made/held for the next 17 days. We anticipate it reopening on 21 May 2010 ** Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. The day use shelter is available from May 7- September 1, 2010 and can be reserved for $35/day. The shelter will accommodate 50 people and 75 vehicles. Check in time is 6am and check out time is 10pm. More information about this area may be obtained by calling (615)822- 4846. There will be a fee of $4 per vehicle charged at the recreation area in addition to the shelter reservation fee.
