Alerts and Important Information A new federal law (Sec. 512 of P.L. 111-24), effective February 22, 2010, makes national parks - and national wildlife refuges - subject to applicable federal, state, and local firearms laws.This law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state and local laws, to legally possess firearms in Mammoth Cave National Park. It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering the park. You may visit the Kentucky State Police website---www.kentuckystatepolice.org/conceal.htm for state laws. Federal law prohibits all firearms in certain park facilities. Those facilities will be marked with signs at all public entrances. Enclosed Shelter: Check in and check out with the Mammoth Cave Campground kiosk for issuance/collection of key and submission/refund of security deposit of $100. Only cash and checks are accepted for security deposit. Open Shelter: Check in with Mammoth Cave Campground kiosk for reservation confirmation.
