Description:
Pebble Guard Station is located at the base of Bonneville Peak along beautiful Pebble Creek, a tributary of the Portneuf River. The rustic one- room cabin offers a secluded retreat on four fenced acres, surrounded by high mountain vistas. Fishing, hunting, scenic hiking trails and ATV trails are available during the snow-free season. In winter, the cabin can be reached by a groomed snow machine route (about four miles from the closed gate on Pebble Creek Rd). The old Ranger Station offers a mudroom/porch that has a large sink with countertop and shower facilities. The main room serves as the kitchen and sleeping room. Cabin amenities include a wood stove, propane heater, propane stove/oven, small propane fridge, propane water heater, two bunk beds, two folding cots, two chairs, two folding chairs and a fold-down table. Adjacent to the cabin, is a single stall vault toilet building, fire ring, and picnic table (seats six). Corrals are available for stock. There is parking space available for four RVs. Wood for the wood stove and fire ring is seasonally available, and stacked adjacent to the cabin. Some pots, pans and dishes may be available, but it is suggested that guests bring their own cooking supplies and dinnerware. Bunk beds have mattresses (sealed in plastic); guests must provide their own bedding. Brooms and dust pans are provided, but guests need to bring their own dish soap, cleaning supplies and garbage bags. The cabin is a "Pack In /Pack Out" facility, which means all garbage goes home with the guests. Pets are allowed, but guests must ensure no damage to furnishings, no harassment of wildlife, and guests must clean up after their animals. Please, no smoking in the cabin. Leave the cabin clean and orderly. This facility and the surrounding forest belong to you. Fishing and hunting are regulated by Idaho Fish and Game and motorized trail uses are allowed on designated routes only. Travel Plan maps are available at local offices or on our website www.fs.fed.us/r4/caribou- targhee.
