Fort Gibson (near Tahlequah), OK
918-682-4314
Description:
Fort Gibson Lake is located along the Grand (Neosho) River and is nestled in the hills of eastern Oklahoma. The lake draws its name from historic Fort Gibson, which played a prominent part in the military history of early day Oklahoma. A reconstructed log stockade stands on the site of the first log fort, and volunteers reenact the lifesyle of the late 1800s for various events throughout the year. Now a National Historical Landmark, the stockade is owned by the state of Oklahoma and is open to the public year round. Wildwood is one of six campgrounds on Fort Gibson Lake that is available for reservations through Reserve America. Reservations are available April 1 through September 30. Wildwood is considered one of the "Best Kept Secrets" of Fort Gibson Lake. Campers searching for a camp- ground off the beaten path will enjoy the serene setting. The campground is located along Fourteen Mile Creek, and provides excellent lake access. Whether camping, picnicking, fishing or just sightseeing, we invite you to come and enjoy the scenic beauty of Fort Gibson Lake.
