About the Campground

American Ridge Lodge is located about 38 miles west of Naches, Washington in the foothills of the eastern Cascades. The rustic ski lodge and unique twenty-seater outhouse were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and are associated with one of the earliest ski areas to operate in Washington State (1935-1950). Activities in the area include fishing, wildlife viewing, birding, and hiking, and winter play. The lodge is also located just outside the boundary of the William O. Douglas Wilderness. Temperatures are generally sunny and warm with little precipitation. Altitude is 3,041 feet. The camp is a group site with a capacity of 60 people and 15 vehicles. The site includes a largely unfurnished 43x48' lodge is equipped with a kitchen area, counter space and benches, several closets and cabinets, and a wood stove. There is an outdoor fire ring, picnic tables, and a twenty seater outhouse, as well as plenty of room on the grounds for dispersed camping. Firewood is not provided.

Alerts and Important Information Security is provided by access through a locked gate. The combination to the gate lock will be included in your confirmation letter. Reservations must be made at least 1 day in advance. This rental site requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends and 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends. If you make reservations before February for a stay during or after February, please call (509) 653-1432 a week prior to arrival to confirm the gate lock combination. Livestock is not allowed, but pets are welcome. There are no utility hookups. There is no potable water at this site. Visitors must bring plenty of water for drinking, cooking and washing. Water can be obtained from pitcher pumps at neighboring campgrounds during the summer season only. Please bring your own garbage bags. This is a "Pack it in, Pack it out" site. Trash may be disposed of at neighboring campgrounds during the summer. Visitors must clean the cabin prior to departure. Please bring sleeping bags/bedding, as well as flashlights or lanterns (there is no lighting in the cabin), first aid kit, washcloths and towels, dish soap and other cleaning supplies. All Forest Service Cabin Rentals are No Smoking facilities. No charcoal stoves, candles, or other open flame devices are allowed in the cabin. Please contact the Ranger District prior to arriving at the cabin/lookout rental to check on any restrictions or conditions, such as fire closures, road, weather or storms, etc, that may affect the quality of your visit.
