About the Campground

Apgar campground is the largest campground in Glacier National Park. It is near Apgar Village, where you will find the Apgar visitor center, gift shops, a camp store, and a casual restaurant. Horseback ride reservations, boat rentals, a shuttle service, and Red Bus tour reservations are also located in Apgar Village. The campground itself is situated in trees and provides tent and RV campers with shade and some privacy. Potable water is accessible in the campground, and restroom facilities provide flush toilets and sinks with running water. Evening sunsets on Lake McDonald are only a short stroll from the campground, and you won't want to miss evening programs at the Apgar Amphitheater with a ranger. For those interested in dayhiking, many trails are located within a short drive of the campground. The 194 individual family sites and 10 group sites for groups of 9-24 are available for first-come, first served camping. Reservations for individual sites are available at nearby FISH CREEK campground in Glacier National Park, or at ST MARY campground on the east side of the park. Five group sites for groups of 9-24 are available from Memorial Day to Labor Day for advance reservations.

Alerts and Important Information Reservations are available for GROUP sites for groups of 9-24 only. The 194 individual sites and 5 additional group sites are available for first-come, first- serve camping. For individual site reservations in Glacier National Park, see FISH CREEK Campground on the west side of the park and ST MARY Campground on the east side of the park. This reservation is for a group site of 9-24 occupants only. Individual family groups of 8 people or less can make reservations at FISH CREEK campground, or ST MARY campground on the east side of the park. Individual family sites for 8 occupants or less are available at Apgar campground on a first-come, first-serve basis. Check in available at 1:00 p.m. on day of arrival. Check out time is 12 noon. Bear habitat: food storage regulations strictly enforced. When not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers located near campground comfort stations. Generator use is permitted only between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., 12 noon - 2:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Pets must be on a leash and are not permitted on trails. Vehicles and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet (including mirrors) are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Sun Point parking area. Entrance fee is $25 per vehicle, $12 for hiker or cyclist; pass is valid for 7 days. Campground stay is limited to seven consecutive days for each reservation.
