Pearl Lake

on December 11th

Pear Lake is a beaut spot to fish. During the spring and summer -- in the winter it freezes and is used for pond hockey. Right off some great access roads and the 101 highway you can easily bring a boat onto the lake, though I think its only electric. Check the Ontario fish&game on the motor restrictions. Trout are found off the shore lines and walleye in the off centre areas of the lake. For the trout some trout dough is not a bad way to go or even some corn baits. I have been told the lake and rainbow trout bite on corn baits. Live minnows are great as well for the trout. Hook 'em through the spine and get a nice real look to them as the float in the water. For the walleye, use a depth finder and find some rolling hills on the lake floor. You want to fish for walleye between 18 and 25 feet, in between those depths at some hills on the lake floor will be a school waiting for a 3g jig to come its way. Hook a large minnow onto the jig and jerk up and down until you get a bite. Enjoy the fireworks on Canada Day in this part of town over Pearl Lake -- always a good time.
