Striped bass are found near Albemarle Sound year round. The biggest fish come in from the Atlantic in April and May. Trolling is your best bet for stripers up to 40lbs. White perch school at the bridge where small jigging spoons are the best bait. Largemouth bass and crappies can be found in the creeks and backwaters. Use crankbaits or spinnerbaits for largemouth bass. Live bait fished early in the fall for bass can find you with a flounder or red drum on the end of your line. Live bait works for crappies. Soft plastic lures work well for catching red drum.
