on February 17th

Bass are fair on black/chartreuse Curb's hair jigs, jerkbaits, and Texas rigged Scoundrel worms on shaky jigheads in 20–30 feet. Striped bass are good trolling white Curb's striper jigs and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows.

Largemouth bass are good on watermelon red crankbaits, pumpkinseed worms, and watermelon tubes on jigheads along bluffs. Striped bass are fair trolling Gizz 4’s on down riggers over humps in the lower end of the lake in 40–60 feet. White bass are fair but small on white spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are very good on Tomato Red JDC grubs and smoke/red flake tubes on jigheads. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.


Fishing Tips for Canyon Lake

Good bass fishing is being had right now by people who are fishing with Texas rigged watermelon Scoundrel worms on shaky jigheads. The best spots are those along drop offs in 15-20 feet of water. Trolling white/chartreuse Curbs striper jigs and jigging Pirk Minnows are good ways to catch striped bass right now. People jigging dark Blade Baits and Pirk Minnows in the main channel are reporting good action. Minnows fished upstream work for fair crappies. The water is clear, 56-6- degrees, and about 10’ low. Fishing Tips for Canyon Lake

on November 8th

The water temp is 68- 72 right now. The water is clear. The bass have been biting well lately on soft plastics, jigs, and spinners fished near main lake drop offs. The striped bass can be caught by trolling crank baits or jigging spoons, jigs, or blade baits over humps at the lower end of the lake. For smallmouth bass ( which are fair as far as fishing goes) fish with soft plastics, crankbaits, and live bait near rocks. The crappies are being caught in the river near wood on jigs and live bait. The catfish have been slow. Good luck fishing!
