Nothing but smallmouth and crappie

on October 5th

I fished the Reservoir at least once a week this past summer (2011). My friend and I just took our little john boat out to troll the banks for smallmouth. Throwing a mock minnow rapala, and crawdad crankbaits showed pretty good results for the smallmouth. As soon as the lure was about 10 ft from the bank the smallmouth would hit. During August I decided to try saugeye fishing. I threw deep divers, bottom bouncers with crawler harnesses, and jigs but the only thing that would bite were crappie. I see people trolling for saugeye everytime I'm on the water but it never seems like the do any good, then again I'm not in their boat. Hope the info helps. Good luck!
