Ford Lake near Scottville, Michigan
A typical Michigan fishery Ford Lake is home to decent numbers of walleye, pike, bass, and panfish. Considering that the lake is only 182 acres it might be surprising to know the max depth is over 80 feet. In order to ataine this depth the lake drops off quickly. This can make fishing harder in the spring when the fish are concentrated in the shallow water. There are a few shallow areas though; try fishing in the shallow bay in the southeast portion of the lake, the shallow bay south of the boat launch, and the northeast corner of the lake. You can find some fish shallow all year but once the waters start to warm up in spring most of the fish move out to the drop offs and weedlines and stay there for the rest of the year. Don't be afraid to fish deep either; depths between 20-60 feet will hold fish. Make sure you focus on the windblown side of the lake and "The Narrows". Tight Lines!
