Carp and Buffalo Fishing!

on June 9th

We have been catching a fair number of Carp and a few Buffalo Suckers mixed in with the carp. The fish seem to average about 8 pounds with a few low teens. Larger fish over 20 pounds are also probably possible. Use boiled maize, sweet corn, boilies, and dough baits. The fish do not seem to like strong flavors, so do not over flavor your homemade baits for best results. We caught and released 21 carp and 3 buffalo suckers in two days of fishing with the largest being 13 lbs 13 oz.

a good fishery

on May 18th

Despite its shallow water Horseshoe Lake supports a good fishery of crappies, catfish, and bass. If you are after bass and panfish try fishing near weed lines, fallen trees, and the deepest water you can find. The catfish can be found around most of the lakes shoreline but the best fishing is around the northeast, east and southeast shoreline. Live bait, plastics worms, and spinners all work well. Good luck fishing!
