Fishing Tips for Horseshoe Lake

While it’s true that the bass here don't grow to lunker proportions in Horseshoe Lake (5lbs+) you can however find lots of 1-3lbs fish. The crappies make up for it with plate sized fish. There are also huge flathead catfish. For big catfish try using live bluegills after dark. Flats that are adjacent to deep water are the best place to fish for catfish. Shad and crayfish make up the forage base therefor lures that are those colors work the best. The best places to fish are reefs, main lake points, and irregular shorelines. In the summer the best time to fish is after dark. In the fall the bass chase shad on the surface so surface lures are the best. For crappies small minnows fished on jigs work every time. Tight Lines!
