Hunting Creek Lake Fishing Report near Thurmont, Maryland

I fished the whole of the lake concentrating on lay-down trees with deep water access.
Target Species: primarily crappie
Bait/Lures: flyfishing (bead head nymphs) and Minnows on float
Summary: crappie fishing was excellent. My friend and I caught well over 50 crappie ranging from 6''-14''. We released the vast majority because they were full of eggs for the spawn. If you visit, please do the same to keep the fishery strong.
Trout were present and being caught regularly by other fisherman using Powerbait. Large sunfish as well were available and were taking flies well. Lastly, I caught several Largemouth bass (10''-16'') on my minnow presentation.
