Fishing Overview for Hurricane Lake

on November 17th

Hurricane Lake is a 318 acre man-made lake with an average depth of 7' and a max depth of 25'. The fishery is fairly average including lots of panfish, good bass, and channel catfish. If you are interested in fishing here I recommend focusing on the deep hole near the dam, the old channel, the flooded timber, and weedlines. If you want to use a boat it can't have a gas motor, electric only. If you don't have a boat there are plenty of place to fish from shore and catch a bunch of fish. The usual baits and lures should work.

Bass and redear on Hurricane

on June 7th

Bass should be moving deeper since the spawn is over. In the early morning you can catch bass in the shallows that are feeding. As the day goes on they will get deeper until late afternoon when they will move shallower again. Worms and lizards Texas and carolina rigged work great here along with crankbaits. Top water lures are great if you can find active feeding bass. You can find redear about anywhere but they will be mostly near gravel beds. They will hit red worms or nightcrawlers fished near the bottom.
