Lake Amon G Carter near Bowie, Texas
The fishing is Lake Amon G. Carter is above average on all accounts. Since I have so many fishing tips I will post them separately. LAREGMOUTH BASS: If you want to catch bass the best time to fish is the spring and fall where they can be found near points, rocks, boat docks, brush/fallen trees, and if the water is muddy, really shallow. The best baits for this of year are pumpkin chartreuse tail worms, white/chartreuse spinnerbaits, and a Carolina rig with a june bug or blue fleck worm. CATFISH: The best time for catfish is in June especially if it rained recently and there is runoff coming into the lake but they can be caught at other times in the year. The best places all the time are open flats near inlets, rocky shorelines, and windswept shorelines after dark. The best baits are live fish, crawfish, dead fish, worms, and stinkbait. CRAPPIES: The best crappie bite of the year is in the winter and spring when they can be found in tightly knit schools for spawning. The best spots at that time of year are wood; like fallen trees, brush piles, and boat docks (even if they are made of metal). Jigs, live bait, and spinners are the best baits for that kind of fishing. WHITE BASS: The best time of the year to fish for white bass is in the spring when they run up the inlets to spawn and can be caught on jigs, spinners, shallow running crankbaits, and live bait. They can be caught the rest of the year too. After they spawn they move out to the main lake where they can be caught by trolling Zip Lures and crankbaits they, in fall they do the same thing they did in the spring but to feed instead of spawn. PANFISH: Your best bet to catch a whole bunch of keeper panfish is to fish in the summer when they can be found near brush, boat docks, fallen trees, and weeds. The best bait is live bait. Good luck fishing!
