Kissimmee is the spot for bass fishing in the greater orlando area. I never leave disappointed. For best results, look for topwater actions like buzz baits, spinner baits, or poppers.

Bass anglers using artificial lures, 1/4 oz or 3/8 oz white-skirted/silver bladed spinnerbaits will be a good choice of subsurface lures. As for surface lures, top-water propellored baits (Devil’s Horse and Torpedoes), Buzz-baits (lunker lures), soft-bodied frog imitations and jerkbaits (white, watermelon seed and motor oil colored), used around Ox Island, Grassy Island or the mouth of the Pig Trail should give anglers a good chance at some exciting action. Deep-diving crankbaits (shad colored) fished near deeper areas of the lake (channels or bottom irregularities) or in flowing water from creeks and tributaries could also account for some nice stringers. In addition, the ever-popular plastic worm (black grape, red shad and junebug colored) should not be forgotten for use within and around edges of open-water vegetation.

Anglers should target the south shore of Brahma Island, Lemon and Philadelphia Points, the Pig-Trail and the northeast shore of North Cove. Flipping or pitching plastic worms, tube jigs or lizards within and along edges of shoreline vegetation will produce. Slow-rolling spinner baits through these vegetated areas should also account for some outstanding action.

Emergent vegetation (maidencane and knotgrass) associated with Philadelphia Point, the Pig Trail, Grassy Island and the east shore of North Cove around 7-Palms has been productive areas for anglers in the past. Live bait (golden shiners) fished within these areas has been a popular method employed by successful anglers. Bass anglers who prefer using artificial lures should make spinnerbaits (white skirt and single Colorado blade) a prime choice.
