Lake Konawa near Konawa, Oklahoma
Fished Konawa with my father for about eight hours this morning. Water was 58 in the discharge canal and 50 on the cold side. Clear-stained.
Caught ~30 sand bass and ~20 largemouth on weightless plastics and crankbaits fished shallow near the cattails on the warm side. Silence was the key. If you were throwing rattling baits, chances are, you weren't getting bit often and the bites you got were small. Nearly every LMB we caught was over 2 lbs, with the largest pushing 8 and second largest was 4-1. Our five best would have gone 20 lb today.
Also, the sand bass are running in the canal. Female sandies are full of eggs and ready to pop.
