Fishing Tips for Lake Whitney

on January 30th

You can find good black action on dark colored soft plastics, spinners, and crankbaits. Striped bass can be caught in decent numbers on minnows and green striper jigs. White bass and crappies are both fair and both can be caught on minnows and tube jigs (try the color blue first). Catfish are also fair but they prefer worms and stinkbait. The water is colored, 52-56 degrees, and about 15’ low. Good luck fishing!

Fishing Tips for Lake Whitney

on November 22nd

Lately the black bass have been biting but not as well as they sometimes do. The best baits are blue/black crankbaits, spinners, and rattle baits. Judging from that I would stay the fish are relatively shallow near fallen trees, points, rocks, and inlets and they are actively chasing bait. The striped bass have been decent on live minnows. The white bass have also been good on minnows. The crappies can be caught near wood on minnows and blue tube jigs. If you are after catfish they are biting well on shrimp, stinkbait, and worms fished after dark. The water temp is 67-71 degree. The water is stained. Lastly the water is 16.18’ low. Good luck fishing!
