There used to be a commercial for a pasta sauce whose name I won't mention. When one kid asked the other about any ingredient the other would reply "It in there." When it come to Winni, as she is called, whatever fish you are after, it's in there. Famous for landlocked salmon and trout it is also an overlooked bass paradise with largemouth and smallmouth everywhere. One researcher put the smallmouth population at 60-80 fish per acre. At over 44,000 acres that is a mass of bass. There are excellent accommodations here in every price range and a stay is advised because there are too many adventures to be enjoyed here in just a single day. This is a world class lake and worth a weeks vacation. I would choose September. The kids are back in school and the water sports crowd has gone back to work.
Species Caught: Largemouth Bass
Weight: 6lbs and 12oz., Length: 22in.
