Fishing Tips for Letort Spring Run

on December 9th

If you are willing to challenge yourself the reward will pay off big time (HUGE brown trout), if not don't even bother fishing here. The fishing here is so difficult Letort Spring Run is compared to Silver Creek out in Idaho. If you are still interesting in fishing here you have to bring you’re A game; really light tippets, the most natural flies, and the quietest wading you can do. The best way to fish for trout here is to scout for likely places from afar. Then try approaching super quietly. Once there fish for any active trout. After you are done with that, kneel until the trout start feeding again. It’s that simple! Except you might not see any feeding trout and you may have to wait a few hours before anything starts biting. That’s what happens when you do it right. If you do it wrong you may as well pack up, go home, and come back a few months later (not really but you have to wait a few days at least). As far as hatches go here the sulphers and stones flies hatch in heavy numbers from early May into June. Tiny blue-winged olives can be found in the spring and fall. Since the Run is about 2 dozen feet wide in most places don’t overlook terrestrials. Good luck fishing!
