Fishing Tips for Long Lake

Long Lake is not a lake for people who want easy fishing. For starters, it’s a challenge to even drive here. Second there are almost no amenities what so ever. Third there are not many fish found here. There are however some huge trout and monster pike. That's not to say there are tons of fish here though. The saying that goes with this lake is that it can be the best fishery in Arizona one day and have anglers thinking of new swear words the next. The best lures to catch pike are swim baits that look like trout, big crankbaits, big jerk baits, huge soft plastics, and, most importantly, dead bait. For trout use spinners, small crankbaits, worms, jigs, soft plastics, and the usual flies. Fishing shallow structure and drop offs in the spring and fall are your best bet. During the summer try trolling the deepest waters of the lake. Good luck fishing!
