Lower Dewey Lake near Haines, Alaska
Lower Dewey Lake harbors stocked Brook Trout, Dolley Varden char, and supposedly Rainbows. however, i have not caught a rainbow here in my summers fishing. It has now predominantly Dolly Varden char.
Late spring as the snow melts, use 1/8 or 1/16 sized spinner baits but as the season progresses into the summer months, the fish will start top feeding so using a fly rod will be best.
There are not many places you are able to get a full swing but that shouldn't be a problem. There are a few points out there that you can try out fly fishing.
Since there is a lack of food source, fish get to max out around 12 inches but most are 7-10 inches. Not big but still fun to catch.
When they're biting they're really biting and vice versa.
