Marion Lake near Lakeville, Minnesota
Summer time fishing can be a hassle on this really decent 560 acre fishery. There are some decent hiding spots in the many bays if you find yourself here dealing with the crowds of recreational boaters on the main body. Walleyes are superb and are found in the obvious areas making it more readable from a surface standpoint. The DNR takes on a large role here with managing the lake as a walleye fishery. Pike grow huge here as well and cruise the shallows along the weed-lines, drop a sucker minnow for them in the holes in the reeds. Walleye hangouts are on the south shore of the eastern bay and on another bar on the north side of the same bay. Early season will find them feeding on the slopes. Get their attention with fatheads bounced along the bottom and on the upward side. As water warms move towards the lakes deeper center. Some really big Walleyes live in here.
