Poor lake if your fishing without a boat, like your average joe. I fished several coves for 2 days using carolina rigs, rooster tails, beetle spins, yum tripod rig, mister twisters, live nightcrawlers and minnows. Not a single bite until I went to the spillway and only caught 1 3lb. channel cat on a nightcrawler

Melvern Lake Fishing Tips

on November 29th

Melvern Lake is fantastic for bass, walleye, catfish, and crappie. When you fishing crappie, use a Mister Twister or most any other jig in water 15-20 feet deep. For catfish, it may sound different, but put rotten soybeans on a medium size hook and let it sit at the bottom of the lake. For walleye, get out a jig and a nightcrawler and go near the cove west of Turkey Point. If your fishing for bass, use a shiny crankbait and go near shallow, rocky areas with some downed trees.
