Walleye on Nickel Beach
by Gavin Wyatt
on December 28th
Another sandy beach with a good drop off about 12 - 15 metres out. The waters run shallow until the drop off where you'll find some walleye and rainbows hanging out. The two are stocked in this lake, not sure the number or how often but its enough to support the anglers and the fisheries. On a calm early morning we drop jigging spoons down to about 8 or 10 metres at the drop and jig for the walleye. Find them hitting on minnows (medium) and worms. Used some night crawlers by Gulp! and one hit on it. Stick to spin rods and reels and monofil lines. Windy days pick up quick around here so prepare to move to a bay if so.
Species Caught: Walleye
