Piedra River Fishing Report near Bayfield, Colorado
Write a Report
The Piedra River offers amazing fishing for nice brown and rainbow trout in its lower reaches with brook and cutthroat trout becoming more prevalent the further upstream you go. This a great little river with lots and lots of fish but there is no easy way to access it. The good news is the long hike discourages most anglers. In fact some of the best stretches require a little bushwacking so be prepared. If you go out fishing here remember that the whole river is restricted to artificials and flies only. Since the river is not fished much I don’t have many specific tips to help you but you should be able to catch fish on the usual until you figure what works best. The best time to fish is during the late June stonefly hatch. Good Luck!
