Rangeley Lake near Phillips, Maine
This lake was a popular spot during Victorian times when anglers seeking 10 pound brook trout arrived at the nearby hotel after a short steamboat ride and long stagecoach ride from Portland. Today the lake is heavily stocked with landlocked salmon and brook trout and still offers fine fishing although that 10 pound brookie is no longer a possibility if it ever was.
