A 455 acre blackwater lake, Rhodes Pond offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass. Try fishing for them with topwaters or soft plastics in the pad beds and in the cypress trees. Spring is the best time to fish for bass, use a floating worm. There are also abundant chain pickerel in Rhodes Pond that commonly hit bass lures. Try fishing for the nice crappies with beetle spins, jigs, or live bait. In the spring the crappies can be found shallow along the shorelines, the rest of the year they can be found in the open water in front of the dam. Catfish can be caught from the bank by fishing with the usual catfish baits near the bottom after dark. The best time for panfish is the colder months, live bait works best.
