One of my favorite small lakes

on May 5th

Idaho Fish & Game stocked this lake twice in April 2013 with 1800 rainbow trout each time. They do a pretty good job of keeping it stocked during the spring and summer. Fished on 5/5/2013 from noon until 6:30pm. It was a bad time of day and the bite was slow. I took home one big, healthy rainbow that I caught on power bait, floating if up off the bottom a few feet. Just as I was leaving and the sun was getting low in the sky, the trout started jumping and feeding on bugs on the top. The water is still a bit cold, but the fish are biting. The lake is beautiful. Two fishing docks, nice parking, day camp areas with BBQs, swimming for the kids, a nice hiking trail around the lake, lots of eagles and osprey to watch diving for fish. $5 to get in for the day. $22ish to camp overnight.
