Silver Lake near Cayley, Alberta
My buddy Barry and I were planning to go icefishing at this lake as I have never seen nor heard of this lake and I have lived in Calgary for 50 years now. We called the Alberta Fish and Wildlife office in High River(403 652-8330) and were informed that this is only a slew and is 100% UNFISHABLE. There are no fish in this water and apparently over the summer of 2010 this water completely dried up.
When you see this on the google maps it appears to be a lake but don't be fooled. We all make mistakes and Google is no different. Next time you see a Alberta Fishing Guide try and find the lake anywhere in the magazine and I guarantee you will not find it. Also, I found an internet site claiming there is trout, striped bass, pike and smelts in this lake as well as, get this, coho salmon , rotflmho. I have news for you folks, ha ha, You can't find salmon ANYWHERE IN Alberta.
Hope this saves some folks from making an unnecessary trip to this place.
