Fishing Tips for Silver Lake

on September 25th

If you are one of those fishermen that are scared of crowds Silver Lake is a lake you should avoid. However if you can get past your fear by fishing during the off seasons, early, late, or during the week you will find lots of decent size walleyes with a few up to 30 inches, both the large and smallmouth bass are above average, the pike average in the low 20s but bigger fish are caught every so often, and the usual panfish swimming around Silver. The largemouth bass prefer weeds (expesscailly lily pads), boat docks, and fallen trees. They can be found on the deep weedlines though in the middle of summer though. Try fishing with rubber frogs, weedless jigs, spinnerbaits, big shiners, and spoons. If you are looking for walleye try fishing the hump at the north end of the lake and the steep drop offs near the western shore. During low light periods walleyes can also be found on flats 12 to 15 feet deep. The smallmouth bass can be found on the hump, the deep weedlines, and points. The pike and panfish can be found just about anywhere. Tight Lines!
