Smith Shoal

on December 30th

Inside a canal along Richards Landing, north of the St Joseph Island this Shoal is amongst some great structure and islands. Tons of tiny little islands in the canal and under currents to go with 'em. Hit on trout in the shoal and had some good catches using live baits. Saw trout pop early morning off the surface on fly baits and larvae. Later in the afternoon sunk some jigs with worms and saw some action on a nice 19" rainbow. The winds were high that day and the action died down and picked up randomly . Hit the islands and shoreline for more trout and got a few lakers and bullies on crank baits and rapala swimmers. Used spin reels/rods and monofil lines.
