Sturgeon Lake near Moose Lake, Minnesota
Walleyes and yellow perch all hang together here and the DNR has done a good job of keeping the numbers high. The average walleye is coming in around 2.3 pounds and that's no slouch for a full day (or Night) of fishing. The word is; there will be a high quality of fish from Sturgeon lake for years to come. Use Jig and bait combinations or troll with crankbaits. Dig into the rock piles in the deep 40 foot holes especially the one right off the big hill at the lakes northern reach. Yellow Perch are to be found in these same holes congregating with the walleyes. Perch are running from 5 to 8 inches. Largemouth Bass are quite numerous and will always be found lurking in the shadows of the shallow water. Top-water plugs are most productive in the summer months.
