Great fun for kids, but...

on June 11th

After trying spinner baits, bobber and worm, the winner came out to be a rainbow trout colored rooster tail that nailed em, nothing but babies though. 6 inch small mouth bass, and lots of <4" bluegill (bobber and worm). The baby blue gill are so overpowering to any bait that they almost catch the worm as it lands. This would be great fun for the little kids, however more experienced anglers will find this lake fairly sparse for anything bigger than 6 inches. 4 hours of fishing and lots of strikes on slow moving lures. But no signs of anything worth taking home to eat. Stayed till sundown, and no one on the pond brought home anything.

Kokanee in Sunset Pond?

on April 12th

So I've fished the Pond the past two days and caught what I thought was a Rainbow Trout. After describing it to someone later they told me it probably was a Kokanee because the fish was more silver than Rainbow. Does anyone know anything about Kokanee running through Sunset and Bug Ponds? Or Squalicum Creek for that matter?

Fishing Sunset Pond, WA

on September 18th

Most of us drive by this little lake without a thought. However, I decided to toss a lure in to see what happens. To my suprise, I was rewarded with three nice little bass on 9/15/2010. I was fishing the north west end of the lake at about 6:30 am. I went back on 9/17/2010, I got there at 2:30 pm before I had to be at work, and snagged a good size bluegill. I was alone out there except for one other caster and two or three dog walkers! Nice surprise in the middle of Bellingham!
