Sutherland Lake Fishing Report near Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, Ontario
Write a Report
This lake is fed by the stream (river) of sutherland and provides some good northern, rainbows and smallies. Troll for the northerns and go deep along the shorelines. The shore drops off in a hurry and into rocks and weeds where some big boys will be hanging out. This lake is almost untouched and if you have the chance to fish it I envy you because its a beautiful spot. Bring some trolling rigs, 60lb test lines, ton of top water runners and a ton of sink trolling baits. Wire leaders are a must on a troll for pike. On a windy overcast day you should be able to find the pike along the weedy shore hunting for bass. Get into the inlets and bays for bass and trout, where you find them you should find some pike. On a warm sunny day I would get about 30 - 40 metres from shore and drop my jigs about 15 - 20 down for the trout, they'll be sinking low hiding from the sun and staying in the cold waters. Depth finder and fish finders will be an asset. Bring a GPS for the country side too, easy to get lost up here. About - 13 at the moment and the lake will soon freeze over so wait until spring when the creeks and rivers open up and feed the lake to un freeze it. This will be a supreme time to hit the northerns and trout! Cheers
