Suthrland Shoal

on December 17th

Fairly deep shoal and some deep running waters in the area. Can expect to find rainbows, lake trout, large and small mouths, walleye, pike and muskie around this area. The northerns bite on trolling rigs at around 60 lb test line with a 20 lb wire leader, the muskie will bite on the same however better off to cast toward shore in search for the muskie laying in the rocks and weeds. As for the trout, use some trout dough or some power bait salmon eggs, cast ahead of the shoal, stalk the trout and allow a split second on the bite when setting the hook. Use monofilament lines on the shoal for the bass and trout, wire leaders are handy and a bobber on a windy day when the waves are swallowing the lines is a good idea to keep visibility on your bait set.
