Waterhen Creek

on December 14th

The Waterhen Creek actually provides better fishing then the lake itself. Try for rainbows and english trout. Locals have been using live alewives and say its the charm. Trout dough by power bait works well in this area too. The northern fish love their live bait though. They are wild and aggressive. Head to Timmins and check out some bait shops, talk to the owner and get some tips. Use the shoreline and fish around coverage. If the sun is lighting up the shoreline go to the opposite and fish the shade. Find some vegetation, rocks, and fallen logs. Jitterbugs work well around here as well as top water frog baits. 22 lb test line will be fine, use wire leaders as a safe guard. Head out early morning or late evening for best results. This creek is huge and long, get a motorized boat onto the creek if you can and hit multiple spots until you find one that works for you.
