If it swims on top, you best be throwing it. Seawalls, humps and clay banks will be great in the mornings. As the fish move out to classic postspawn patterns, crankbaits that dive 7 to 10 feet will good. Stay with shad patterns.

Fish secondary points near spawning pockets, and cover a lot of water. Jigs are going to catch a lot of fish near structure in shallow water as the fish look to move in the pockets to bed.

Crankbaits and spinnerbaits are great search baits as you enter warming spawning pockets. Jigs and plastics will always produce bites in February. Look for clear water down the lake where bluff walls meet points or pockets, and work your bait slowly for best results.
