Please avoid fishing in Whiting Harbor. There is an invasive colonial tunicate, Didemnum vexillum, present in Whiting Harbor. It can easily be spread fragments of the colony being disconnected by anchors, boots, activities at the back of the bay. The area is marked by buoys. To reduce the chance of spreading this invasive species avoid entering the area at the head of the bay beyond the buoys.
