First time Wilson's Cut

on April 30th

Kayak fished this area for the first time ever with my dad for his first time kayak fishing. All advice for kayak spots from locals on the island pointed to this cut, so we fished it. I fished pop and cork the whole time with live shrimp. My dad did as well but sometimes fishing bottom in deeper areas. Water depth ranged from 18" to 4 foot for the most part. My dad caught the first Red in about two foot of water on a pop and cork with about a 18" leader. He was just under 20". Then I hit on one in about 18" of water on the same rig. He was just over 20". I caught just one more just under 20" later on. Lady fish were everywhere and the birds were tearing up bait fish. Fished for about 4 hours, released the one keeper, and went home satisfied. There's fish out there.
