About the Campground

The Fort Pickens Campground is located on Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island IN the Gulf of Mexico! The campground is a short driving distance to restaurants and beach nightlife, downtown Pensacola, the Pensacola Naval Air Station and Naval Aviation Museum, the Pensacola Lighthouse and other historic sites. Campsites are within 1/4 mile of the beaches of the "Emerald Coast" of the Gulf of Mexico and Pensacola Bay. There is a licensed fishing pier near the campground, by Pensacola Pass, which can be used by visitors without a Florida fishing license. The Ft. Pickens Campground is open year-round. From November through February, all campsites are walk-in only. For arrivals from March 1 to October 31, reservations for campsites can be made six months in advance. The Fort Pickens area is South of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze, Florida. It offers many activities, from touring historic Fort Pickens to enjoying the unique white sand beaches of Northwest Florida. Alerts and Important Information Sites in Loops B C D and E are now reservable for dates starting 5/21/2010. Sites in Loop A are currently reservable. The Fort Pickens Road is subject to flooding. Please call the Road Information Line at 850-934-2656 for a forecast of potential road flooding prior to arriving. Click HERE for more details about the road to Fort Pickens and it's flooding potential. Gates close at 10 pm. Non-registered campers must arrive prior to 10 pm. Be sure to reserve a site that can accommodate your equipment! Entrance into Gulf Islands is $8 per private vehicle for seven days. Late Arrivals: You must call the campground if you will arrive more than 24 hours after the start of your reservation or your reservation will be cancelled, and you will be charged for your first night's camping fee plus a $20.00 no show fee. Call Fort Pickens Campground at (850) 934-2622. All campers must register at the Ranger Station / Campground Office, if open, prior to occupying a campsite. Overnight stays are limited to 30 days per calendar year, with no more than 14 days between March 1 and Labor Day. All stays during the year are counted towards these limits. Camping is permitted only in designated campsites within the campground. Only one recreational vehicle, or two tents, with a maximum of six persons, is allowed per campsite. Campsites must be physically occupied or the permit will be revoked. There is a limit of 2 vehicles (including trailers) per campsite. Park completely on the paved parking pads. Extra vehicles should be parked in the overflow parking areas. FIRES are only permitted in the grills. Dead wood may be collected off the ground. Please do not build large fires during windy or very dry times. All PETS must be on a leash, not to exceed six feet in length. Pets are not allowed on the beaches or inside any structure. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Pets are not permitted to make excessive noise. DUMPING grey-water or sewage on the ground or in the restrooms is prohibited. A dump station is provided. Do not wash vehicles. Please be courteous to others. QUIET TIME is 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Generators may run for 15 minutes at a time intermittently during the day and not at all during quiet hours.
