2 Campground Reviews for Lake Fork - Montrose, CO

Camp Host @ Lake Fork is miserable...

For the last 5 years we haul the boat and camper to Lake Fork marina and campground. We’ve always had great experiences camping in the upper lot overlooking the lake. This year, we’ve made five trips and oddly the best spots (20-26) are always reserved but no one ever shows up. The male camp host has harassed us every trip. He sneaks around in the brush spying on the girls and stops numerous times a day to demand a soda can be removed from the table.. I paid for 2 sites further down the camp that were not reserved, didn’t have change so I paid over the going rate and he came down and started harassing me about not paying for a site. He even went to all the trouble of fabricating an envelope and filling it out with no cash. I have unequivocally had enough of their passive aggressive nonsense and I won’t be back until they are gone. It’s $700 in fuel and supplies every trip, just to deal with that. Blue mesa is my favorite lake in Colorado and I highly recommend it. Just save yourself some grief and camp ANYWHERE else.

Camp Host

We have gone to Lake Fork 5 times this summer so far. It is our absolute favorite place to be, the lake is beautiful. There are some campsites on the top of the hill that are very desirable but always reserved. We stay for 4-5 nights usually and no one ever shows up for the reserved campsites. We wonder if the camp hosts just put up reserved signs so that no one else can enjoy the best view form the campsites there. The camp hosts this year have harassed us every single visit and have been completely passive aggressive. One of the camp hosts was looking through our windows and making the girls uncomfortable. They come by about 6 or 7 times a day just watching us. The camp hosts last year were amazing and friendly, and the 5 times we have come this year they have found something to complain about. They accused us of not paying for our campsites and then they found our envelope and never apologized. It was like they were looking for something to be mad at us for. Although they have been incredibly rude we have never gotten a complaint that we were too loud after hours or anything like that. They just watch us and look for anything they can possibly use. There was one beer can on the table when we went in the camper to cook and they complained about that even though we were coming back out to eat at the table. They have made all of our vacations a struggle to have fun and relax in the outdoors. We get through it, but they have been incredibly unnecessarily overbearing and rude and passive aggressive.
