About the Campground

Little Bear Group Campground is located in beautiful Huntington Canyon along the Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway on Utah Highway 31 at an elevation of approximately 6,500 feet. Pines and junipers offer plentiful shade. The canyon area has numerous lakes and streams, vibrant summer wildflowers, colorful fall foliage, and abundant wildlife. Popular activities include fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and scenic driving. Huntington Creek runs through the campground and offers a Blue Ribbon Fishery for brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. The 4-mile Left Fork of the Huntington National Recreation Trail, for hiking and horses, is nearby, as is the 10-mile Fish Creek Trail, for hiking, biking, and horses. Little Bear Group is made up of two group sites, A and B. To reserve entire campground, both sites A and B must be reserved. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no electricity, water, sewer, or garbage service at this campground. This is a "pack it in, pack it out" site and all trash must be removed upon departure. Parking spurs are dirt, and both sites have plentiful shade. Group fire rings with benches, grills, and serving tables are available. The Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway is part of the 86-mile Energy Loop, and offers stunning mountain and lake views as it tops 10,000 feet in elevation. The historic Stuart Guard Station Visitor Center is nearby, offering a glimpse of the 1930s life of a ranger and his family who once lived there. Exhibits of CCC work and original equipment are on display, and area information is available as well.
